- Community seed bank collections start with seed. Sharon founded Seedy Saturday in 1989.
- Sharon has helped many communities identify the varieties of seed that will thrive in their retion. The GIS project is her current project.
- She specializes in heritage vegetables and wheat. Red Fife wheat is one of the many heritage wheat varieties she works with 'on farm' in Canada through The Garden Institute of B.C. Heritage Wheat Project.
- She has worked with the Greek Gene Bank and was a founder of the Greek Aegilops heritage wheat network.
